The Pretty Things - Philippe Debarge CD Out Now!
The story of Philippe Debarge and the Pretty Things, although not widely known, is one of the most interesting legends in the annals of rock and roll. Debarge was a rich, eccentric French playboy who had everything money could buy, but above all else, yearned of becoming a famous rock star. He lived in a large castle in Saint-Tropez, France overlooking the Mediterranean Sea with his family who had made a fortune in the pharmaceutical industry. The era is early 1969 and Philippe was a huge fan of the Pretty Things.
Debarge was a genuinely nice guy who had a lot of money. He was able to convince the Pretty Things to allow him to sing lead vocals on a set of their original songs in exchange for financing the project. This set was eventually burned to acetate and copies of very poor quality have been floating between psychedelic music collectors for years....until now.
It is TWOS' great pleasure to announce the official release of the Pretty Things - Philippe Debarge LP. The album has been painstakingly re-mastered and produced by Phil May and Wally Waller of the Pretty Things, issued by Ugly Things/UT Records and is of excellent sound quality. This CD is a must for any fan of the Pretty Things and 60s psychedelic music...enjoy!
